All true healing addresses the whole person rather than the symptom. All true healers know that every kind of dis-ease in the mind, spirit or body comes from stress, and that the stress response comes from a nervous system which has fallen out of whack. And, our nervous systems fall out of whack because they become overwhelmed by the weight of our life experiences, though it's actually the way we respond to those experiences, it's how we feel about them, that is really at the core of the stress response in our bodies.

"If you can keep your head when all about you," wrote the poet Rudyard Kipling, "Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too..."

We often try to keep our heads; we often do well at staying in control - on the outside. Later in the poem, Kipling takes us deeper:

"If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two impostors just the same..."

His poem is a great recipe for mastery. On the way to mastery, we human beings have one over-riding challenge, which is the force of our emotions. It is what we feel about what is happening, or has happened, which makes masters or slaves of us all. There haven't been too many masters on this planet yet - so that leaves the rest of us! Most of us are stuck, to one degree or another, in the 'story' that our body holds about our life experiences - and the stories are constantly energised by the emotions that make them feel inconvenient at best, but much more often painful or debilitating.

The force of our feeling actually carries the power for positive manifestation beyond our wildest imaginings, but it also has the power to make us slaves to poverty, addiction, physical sickness and every kind of dysfunction.
